Michael Dye: A Life That Changed Lives

Michael Dye was born in Redondo Beach, California. From an early age, he possessed an adventurous spirit and a lifelong desire to understand life's deepest questions.

1970s

A Journey Around the World

As a young man, Michael traveled extensively throughout the world, experiencing different cultures while surviving numerous life-threatening situations, including malaria, dysentery, and dangerous encounters that would later strengthen his faith and purpose.

1980

A Life Transformed by Christ

After years of searching, Michael surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. This decision became the defining turning point of his life and the foundation for everything that followed.

1980

Marriage to Cathy Dye

Just four months after meeting, Michael married Cathy. Their 44-year partnership became the foundation for both their family and the future ministry they would build together.

Early 1980s

Discovering Recovery Ministry

Michael and Cathy began serving at New Life Center in Santa Cruz, California, where they witnessed firsthand the life-changing power of recovery through the Twelve Steps. Michael often said, "I'm home. These are my people."

1987

Youth With A Mission (YWAM)

The Dye family joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM) at the University of the Nations. For the next decade, Michael and Cathy traveled internationally, teaching, discipling, and developing leaders while God refined the vision that would eventually become the Genesis Process.

1990s

Asking the Hard Question

Michael devoted years to answering one question:

"Why do we do the very thing we don't want to do?"

Combining biblical truth, neuroscience, psychology, and recovery principles, he developed a practical model for lasting life change.

Late 1990s

The Genesis Process Is Born

After years of research, writing, teaching, and testing his ideas in recovery settings, Michael completed the Genesis Process—a comprehensive relapse prevention curriculum that addresses the spiritual, emotional, relational, and neurological roots of addiction and destructive behavior.

2000s

Expanding Across the United States

The Genesis Process began serving rescue missions, prisons, churches, treatment centers, and community organizations throughout North America, equipping thousands of facilitators to help people achieve lasting recovery.

2010s

Global Training and Lasting Impact

Michael and Cathy continued training leaders around the world, bringing the Genesis Process to ministries and organizations across multiple continents. His teaching reached hundreds of thousands of individuals seeking freedom from addiction and destructive behaviors.

A Legacy That Continues

After a courageous 35-year battle with late-stage Lyme disease and chronic pain, Michael passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

His greatest legacy lives on through the Genesis Process, which continues to transform lives worldwide through trained facilitators, churches, recovery ministries, correctional institutions, and nonprofit organizations.
